Competition TWO now launched - take a look here. Another GGiP prize for the winner. Deadline for entries Sunday 5th November....
The original petition has now clocked up a massive 1,500 geographers and supporters. Thanks guys! The new public petition is here.
GGiP Geographer t-shirts - we are now taking a second batch of orders - photos here and an order form here. Get your order in quick!
GGiP t-shirts available from Dan. The price is £10 per shirt which includes VAT and delivery... this is as cheap as we can get it. Sizes are s, m, l, xl and xxl. The shirts are white with a screen print of the GGiP logo on the front and 'Geographer' written over the shoulders on the back. Contact Dan by e-mail with your orders. You can see the t-shirts in action here.
Stickers - Dan has arranged with the wonderful SchoolStickers company to produce some real (circular) stickers to support our campaign. They are seriously cool stickers and you will all want some. Stick them on your (snail) mail. Stick one on the Head's desk when he/she is not looking. Put some in interesting places when you travel around. Send one to the editor of your local paper. Let us know what you do with them! Follow the link (above right) to put in an order - the contact is Kathryn Godfrey. Just ask for the number of sheets of GGiP stickers that you want. (There are 70 stickers on a sheet and at £1.46 per sheet, that works out at around 2p each - great value)
Blank maps!!! You can also buy GGiP blank campaign maps. For £10 you get 5 free blank maps and 15 maps will then be sent to key media people in organisations such as the BBC. A blank map is a massive A0 poster that has a 'World Map' title and nothing else on it except the question'Where would you be without geography?' Provides a powerful message and talking point. Again contact Dan with your orders.

A geographer quoted in a national newspaper - wow! Yes, anything is possible - read the article here.

Geography In Action
In order to counter the dreadful anti-Geography propaganda pumped out by Guardian journalists and others, it seems timely that we should assemble some evidence of the good work that goes on, both in our classrooms and in outdoor education. So what I would like is photos of students at work in the classroom or outdoors and a very brief account of what they are doing. If you include 2 or 3 genuine student comments, that would be even better (comments can be attributed to just first names). These will be turned into web pages for people to see what modern geography is all about.....
Contacting the media
Several people have already contacted the media and had some replies. If you receive a reply, please let us know via e-mail so that we can post the responses on the website for others to see. The media responses page is now live...
How many people have signed the original petition?
So far, over 1,500 people have signed up to show their support for the GGiP Campaign . There are, however, still thousands of other Geographers and supporters out there - so if you haven't already done so, please contact as many people as possible who might be interested in supporting us and our subject. Many people don't use online forums, etc and will be unaware of what we are trying to do unless YOU contact them.
TES Article
An article on the GGiP Campaign appeared in the TES on 16th June 2006 (page 5) entitled 'It's Geography, stupid'. Not what I would have chosen as a headline but it is good publicity for the GGiP Campaign and we need more of it.

Did you hear or see the word 'Geography' mentioned on TV, radio or in the newspapers?
If you hear the word 'geography' mentioned on tv or the radio, please e-mail us immediately so that we can record the details on the website. We don't expect this to be a very long list...apparently on 11th June the word was heard on Radio 1 by GGiP supporter Silvercat!
